cropped-nancy.jpgWHO AM I:   There is a song written by John Mark Hall of Casting Crowns called Who Am I? talking about what Jesus is doing, not us… “Not because of who I am, But because of what You’ve done. Not because of what I’ve done, But because of who You are…”

This seems to fit my feeling about myself and my life in Jesus! I really don’t deserve all the blessings He’s given me.  So here I will write a bit of my salvation experience and my call to minister His love and grace to others. I am “all in” with Him. There is no one I am more fully persuaded to love, adore, worship, and trust. I’ve turned my entire life over to Him! His Word is my absolute guide for life. In Him, I find everything I need. My Heavenly Father’s love for me has been so beautifully embodied in Christ Himself. Jesus’ sacrifice for my sins, His suffering and beating for my healing, and then sending the Holy Spirit to be my companion, comforter and guide is amazing.

MY SALVATION: About two weeks (Nov. 15, 1981) before my 22nd birthday, I experienced a heavenly transaction in my soul! The Bible, in John 3:3, calls it being born-again. I entered into the Kingdom of God to become His child and I have lived in that Kingdom ever since. I am glad to say that every day since then I have been thankful to be here, even while faltering through some rugged days.

Shortly after this spiritual exchange took place in my life, I attended a rock concert with my friends. I didn’t really want to go, but I did as my friends were counting on me for the tickets I had. What I see now is that God had His purpose in my going in order to clearly show me that I had truly been changed! Not some event I had imagined or been talked into, but I realized in the middle of that concert that I had a new Spirit in me! I saw into the spiritual realm in a vivid way and knew that I truly had become a new creature in Christ, just as the Bible says. Wow!

Some of my salvation experience is interspersed in a book I am writing. It’s a memoir covering a two-year period leading up to and including the adoption of our four children. It includes my time spent in Romania in the year 2000. I look back and see how God has used everything in my life, even some of the most difficult times, to work into me His purpose and plan.

I have lived an interesting life in God’s Kingdom and thank Him for the many ways He has changed me, loved me, and cared for me. I have known the heights of joy and the depths of pain, shame, rejection, abandonment and sorrow, as many of you have. God was always there, standing in the shadows at times, waiting for me to see that through it all He was faithful to me. He truly is the lover of my soul. And I love Him dearly.  And I believe some of my best years are ahead!

MY CALL:  In April of 1986, on a Friday night during a special conference at our church, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me a call to serve Him completely, fully, asking if I was willing to give up everything of this world to follow Him. I said, “yes.” From that day, I have always had a deep heart of care for people. My heart has been especially drawn to the needy in our world, which have little to nothing. Especially in countries where Jesus is their only provider through the hands of faithful giving people. That call has taken me to many places both here and abroad. I can say today that I do not regret any portion of my journey. God uses all of our experience, the good and the painful, to mold us for His use. I have experienced His great grace, mercy and love. This has produced compassion in my heart to attempt to love others as He has loved me.

My theme for my life is:  Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the woman that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But her delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth she meditate day and night.  And she shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth her fruit in his season; her leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever she doeth shall prosper.
